"The Moon Takes A Drink"

by Clairesse Schweig

The crescendoing crescent moon

scratches the night’s heavenic cloak.

It’s phantasmal allure snakes from the sky

into a mystifying drip of stardust.

From the darkness, its spellbound song flows into

the open mouth of Earth,

illuminating beams of life

like a dew drop swallowed whole by a rose’s petal

 —ethereal and refreshed.
